We haven't been all that active this fall; my knee has been really bad and I have barely been able to get out of my chair most days. However, we did take a couple of easy, fun trips.
We took the camper down to James River on October 24 for the weekend and had a lovely time. The weather was just right for sitting outside the camper and reading, once the sun got up. We had the perfect campsite, our new official favorite. And, most fun of all, we took the wagon ride up to the Tye River overlook--much more fun than walking it, for sure!
We tried to recreate the perfect fall camping trip by going out to Holliday Lake a couple weekends later--and about froze. We ended up coming home a day early. End of fall camping. Boo.
We finally started our Outdoor Adventures 4H club in October. We began with an information meeting at Pleasant Grove, with a fun little geocaching activity for the kids. We followed that up with a hike at Pleasant Grove and a survival training workshop at Powhatan SP, as well as a couple of meetings.
And last, we started off the New Year right with a First Day hike at Powhatan. We took Sadie for her first hike, and Maya of course. Sadie pulled like a sled team and wore poor Dave out. It was a very short hike but we got out there.
Our intention is to get more outdoor time in on weekends, more training in on weekdays, and get to Maine this summer. Katahdin next year!
